When radio is stock, it sounds like crap on AM. However I modified mine to sound as good as any tube rig that is out there.
I installed a relay to cut out the am filter on transmit. Also I added a 10 turn precision pot to set the carrier level. Also added a switch to set the two if mosfets at a certain gain level on AM. This included cutting out the ALC on AM.
All of this was very neatly done with only two holes drilled in the rear of the unit. One for the pot and the other for the switch.
The relay I installed inside. If this is something that you want more details on, please let me know. It does involve quite a few instructions to get it right. However I feel that it is worth the effort.
